What are the Check-in options at United Airlines?

Depending on where you are in your travel journey, there are various options to check in for your United or United Express flight.

24 hours before departure:

  • Visit united.com/checkin for more information.
  • Enter your confirmation number or eTicket number, as well as your last name.
  • Use your MileagePlus® account information to log in.

At the departure Airport:

You can check-in for your flight in one of the following methods when you arrive at the departure airport:

  • You can print your boarding card and check your baggage at a self-service kiosk.
  • At the United check-in counter, speak with a United representative.

The following are the minimum check-in and baggage-checking times:

  • Travellers without checked luggage must check-in at least 30 minutes before departure on most United and United Express flights inside the United States
  • Travellers with checked luggage must check-in at least 45 minutes before departure on most United and United Express flights inside the United States
  • Regardless of whether or not they are checking luggage, travellers must check-in at least 60 minutes before departure on most United and United Express international flights.

When should I arrive at the boarding gate?

Customers must board the aircraft 15 minutes before the planned departure time for flights within the United States. To ensure that you are on the plane before the doors close, arrive at the boarding gate at least 15 minutes before departure.

We recommend arriving at the gate at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time for international flights. Please be warned that if you are departing from one of the following airports, you must arrive at the gate at a particular time before departure.
